^Lately I've seen that in a holiday pack:2 bottles, a "Trooper" pint glass, and an Iron Maiden T-shirt. $30.

Heh, they have it on the bar at the Fleece - seen EHG and Yob there recently.
The beer's ok, but just a middle of the road bitter. Better than the Piledriver 'quo beer though!

Been on a good run as of late. Happy Thanksgiving friends, cheers!

Finally got to try the elusive St. Stefanus Grand Cru from the Augustinian order in Ghent.
To be honest, this should've been the first of the night as it was the strongest and most complex. Palate fatigue has clouded my experience a bit, but still an amazing brew.

That is quite the run of Ales, D74. I don't think i could handle more than one of those at a time anymore, tbh. I got a raging headache after drinking just 16oz. of St. Bernardus 12 on tap a few weekends ago. Well out of practice. :\

^ I know what you mean LC. These craft Ales are far too rich for sessioning.

Been enjoying the Trader Joe's 2014 Vintage ale brewed by Unibroue lately. Big, malty belgian dubbel. Can't beat it at $5.99 for a bomber.

Red Rye IPA.. a joint venture from Bomber brew (BC) and Stone brew (SD?) called Blood from a Stone.

Really great, beautiful flavour and that clean IPA taste but a little dialed back on the sharpe or something. I've really been enjoying it. Think its a limited time kinda thing as well.

Buying some Belhaven for my ride to Cleveland, nothing will satisfy my palate like that again. It tastes so good, I'll think about it all day if I don't reel myself in.

Just shared a bottle of 7 Swans a Swimming from the Bruery. This year's holiday offering.
It's a Beligan Quad and goddamn if it's not spectacular. Might be the best American-made Belgian Quad I've had. If you like that style, git some.

It's on tap at Falling Rock if you're in Denver. Bottle seemed to have a tiny bit more mouthfeel, but both were great.

I think it's the only heather ale I've tried so no idea how it compares.
Used to get it for a pound a bottle at the squatted social centre across the street, then saw it years later on a supermarket shelf at 'premium' prices.

Had to visit the home brew shop today so picked up a selection - all from within half a mile of my house. A traditional porter, a porter with a splash of port, an 'export single hop' (Topaz) porter, and a rye saison to mix things up. It's winter after all.

A nice Farmhouse Red. I wish I was drinking it now, it's been a dry week.

'Celia'! A gluten-free sorghum Farmhouse Saison.
Every gluten-free Ale I've tried thus far has been thin, gimmicky and not very memorable. Not so with this fine effort from Ipswich Brewery out of Massachusetts.

Pours as Gold as Mordred's armour. Bready-yeast nose gives absolutely nothing away as to the spice dominant flavor of this surprisingly complex Saison. I'm glad I took a shot with this one.

Goes well with Genesis 'Selling England by the Pound' vinyl.

This has not lived up to expectations. Wanted something fantastic, got something decent.

Heh. Let me guess. It's everyone's Birthday tonight, right?! Have fun. Cheers.

I've got absolutely no desire to drink any Holiday/malty/brown colored type ale anymore. But if it's straw colored and it's hoppy? Hells yeah!

They were pretty spent after driving from Spokane, but a couple of beers perked them up. Nice guys.

Sam Smith imperial stout. Somewhere about twenty pages back I'm probably here moaning about it, but right now it is doing the job. About two pounds cheaper too.

Beer Factory are doing a 'wheat wine' - 75% wheat, tripel strain yeast, with cold brewed coffee and 10%abv... Sort of sounds like it is probably not very nice, but it is intriguing. Not cheap though, so it's a big gamble!

Cheers to the goblin lads!

If I had a chance to choose all over again, I would have selected something a bit more daring. Perfunctory spices and quench with no real character. It's ok.

Monkey King Farmhouse Saison.

Had a few beers from Fremont Brewing in Seattle last night. Had an IPA, Winter beer and something else and all were very good. I was pleasantly surprised to find their beer in stores here.

Way back in 1996 or so I drank Matt's beer in his garage. His wife is my ex's cousin, so we were visiting and he said he was a home brewer. Off to the garage and his beer 'fridge we went and spent the next several hours talking beer. I remember his beer being very good at the time and was very happy to try it again last night. I will definitely get some more.

Picked up some festive time beer and went for a wild card - Redwood from Wild Beer Co. It's apparently a sour red ale, aged in various barrels over a year with hedgerow fruit (mostly brambles by the flavour) and a farmhouse cider yeast culture. Not really explored sours much, I remember being totally out off by the meedicine-like kriek I tried years ago. It's ok, but does taste a lot like my home brew cider with a bit of ale in it.

Tasty local porter lined up to settle my palate.

Wild Beer Co. makes some solid beer. I met the brewer when he was out here for the CBC and got to try the collaboration they did with the Italian brewery, Toccalmatto. It had some sort of fruit in it, blackberries???, but it was nice and dry and perfect on a warm day.

I too am not a fan of the medicine/solvent aroma on some sours. Yuck.

Merry Holidays to everybody.

Fairly mellow Christmas on tap tonight. Got a couple from Ninkasi in the 'fridge (new to Colorado) and a '09 Scaldis Noel.

It's obvious you only buy these beers and pour them in fancy glasses so you can take a pic and post it here poseurs.

My candy, even with the can taste, beats the fuck out of yours.
