Had some Surly "Wet" at a tasting last week. Delicious. The guy that brought it said it was canned on Oct 31st, and we were drinking it on Nov 4. Fresh, hoppy, and did I say delicious? Not distributed outside of Minnesota?

Can't get into Great Divide. Maybe I haven't tried the right ones yet but what I have I haven't really cared for (Denver Pale Ale Great Hades, Rumble, Titan). I also tried the Vanilla Yet Imperial Stout which I did think was good, but I am not a IS fan so that was my main roadblock with that one.

I do have a Hibernation Ale in my fridge right now which I am scared to try now as the first review I read for it over at Beer Advocate compared it to a less bitter Raison D'Etre from Dogfish Head, and I couldn't stand that beer. I bought a 4 pack of it, drank half a bottle, and gave the rest away to a roommate. We'll see how my taste buds have changed since then (that was around 4 years ago) but I am hesitant as I generally am not a fan of sweet, fruity beers.

It's on the sweeter side, but not really like Raison.
It's more like a wee heavy or an old ale - that kind of caramel and sweetness.

Yep, the view from my rented, tiny 2 bedder. I sometimes see whales from there, and it's nice to sit there drinking beer! YOU ARE WELCOME TO COME DOWN ANYTIME AND SHARE ONE WITH ME!

Spiritu, I like the way the Black Malt knocks back the sweetness of the crystal. I've just brewed another exactly the same but with more hops. I'll see how that goes, and if the hop profile is to my liking, I'll start fiddling with the malts. Maybe use a mix of Pale and Maris Otter Malts. I've got a single malt/single hop Maris Otter/Nelson Sauvin Golden Ale up for bottling next week. Doing a lot of experimenting with my rig and system to get things dialled in and consistant before it gets too hot!

Some hope is rekindled.

Don't think I have ever had a wee heavy or an old ale (Hibernation is identified on the bottle as and English Old Ale) so I am curious. Actually, scratch that, I have had Oskar Blues's Old Chubb so have had a wee heavy and I do like that one. Still never had an old ale though.

INDEED! the chances are about as slim as me getting to Roadburn, but the same goes for anyone here who likes a beer and finds themselves over this way.

Cheers! This one is a SMASH (Single Malt/Single Hop) using Thomas Fawcett Maris Otter Malt, and New Zealand Nelson Sauvin Hops. And a little bit of wheat. So it's not really a SMASH at all.

It's very, very nice. Tastes like fizzy Sauvignon Blanc wine. The main aroma is Passionfruit. It calculates to 5.6% abv and is very dangerous because it's so easy to drink. The haze is from the wheat. Opened a bottle while warm and it was the same so it's not chill haze.

I'm still working out my hopping process, so it doesn't have quite the aroma I want. I just did a 20 litre IPA using 130g each of Motueka and Pacifica at 5 minutes and that will be dry hopped later with 40 g of each, which should liven things up a bit.

The 'Texas Ranger' I mentioned earlier got its smokiness from Chipotle, and it is made by Mikkeler from Denmark (Copenhagen, if I'm not mistaking).

I saw that beer in the store here yesterday. Didn't pick it up, but might grab one later in the week. It's pretty easy to get Mikkeler beer here.

A.C.E. - love that Supplication. It's been fairly easy to find around here lately, which is nice.

Yeah it has remained on shelves here for a while too. Along with Consecration. Two of my favorite 'Tions.

Also had some of this from last year now that the new batch is available...

Had some of that at a beer tasting yesterday along with some Black Tuesday and 3 Floyds stuff, etc.
That Abyss is definitely one of my favorite Deschutes brews.

Hmm I was just drinking a Hobgoblin (ruby) last week and wondering if there are good dark brews with licorice root.
Too much would kill a beer but a hint could be good.

I had a lovely beer called Pitchfork at the weekend, calls itself a 'rebellious bitter'. Pale malt only.

Brewer's blurb:
"The name comes from the Pitchfork rebellion of 1685 the last battle to be fought on English soil of the Civil War.
A golden bitter with floral citric hop aroma. It has a hoppy predominate taste which is slightly sweet and fruity and leaves you wanting more."

Dutch Gus, yeah I agree, a hint is ok but too much...that would suck.
The Abyss is incredibly delicious and very complex.
Spiritual Leader, which 3 Floyds did you have?
They had The Melvins play at their anniversary party!

Now drinking:
Crooked Stave Fertile Soil (fresh hopped golden ale).

Man, is this shit good! Had one last night and stopped at the store to get two more tonight. 25oz. bottles. All ingredients sourced from Colorado.
"Please enjoy this beer fresh, respect the hops and do not age."

Word on the street is they are moving their brewery from Ft. Collins to somewhere in my neighborhood. Hell, yeah!

Cannot judge the smoothness until the fruit is ripe.

Lost a friend today and this is my consolation. I've had the bottle in the fridge for a while and finally decided to break it out in honor. Didn't realize this was the occasion I was saving for, but it's alright.

From the talk on Beer Advocate, that Three Floyds Aniversary Party was kinda messed up. I'm a fan of their beer though, and we've always had a good time and good food when we visit the pub. Gotta score some of that Zombie Dust though, heard it's great. Color me jealous.

How could a party featuring The Melvins go wrong?

For someone not currently drinking, I really really really should not be visiting this thread.
