I don't know what it is man, but every time something shitty happens, all I want to do is get online and moan about it. Where the hell does that come from?

My wife and I got rejected from prequalifying for a mortgage today on account of student debt, and all I can think to do with my useless fucking anger is type.

Ugh.

So hey, if anyone wants to bitch about their eggs being overdone or whatever the fuck. Yeah.

Then you should go over to the stonerrocklives.com general discussion forum. Place is littered with so many "bitching" threads, its like reading the "Bummer" cartoons in the back of Dynamite Magazine.

^was that reference too obscure? I'll tell ya, I can't gauge it these days.

Isn't that the purpose of the internet? To broadcast our woes and gripes? Have I been doing it wrong?

I have been bitching about my shitty existence online for months now. I figure no one offline seems to want to listen so maybe in the online world, someone, somewhere will listen to me. It is pathetic really but as soon as I am pissed off about something I head straight to a computer. Maybe it is a kind of therapy or something.

Among 'friends' in a forum is one thing, but casting your line out to the general public is another- pretty distasteful to me.

There's a news story going around this week about some turd musician whose 1965 Gibson guitar worth $10,000 was damaged by Delta Airlines after he unsuccessfully tried to avoid checking it. He puts up a graphic picture of the shitty leather case all smashed and mangled, (but not pics of the actual guitar which was in fact not destroyed but did suffer an estimated $1980 worth of damage) and now every bystander on Facebook, news, music blogs and beyond contribute endless overwrought posts waxing emotional about his 'crushed' guitar as if a human being has died, or take the opening to castigate 'heartless corporations' like we haven't heard that hackneyed line a million fucking times.

Image

As a result the guy has apparently already been offered a free repair from Gibson as well as another free Gibson guitar, he's being offered flight cases by gear companies seeking publicity, and his 'social media campaign' will predictably result in swift recompense from Delta ahead of all other claimants, all over a measly $1980 of damage to a $10,000 guitar the guy was careless enough to check in a flimsy leather case.

WHY DO I NEED TO BE AWARE OF THIS TOTAL STRANGER'S PENNY-ANTE PROBLEM???

I saw that thing about the$10k guitar, and i laughed.

I don't even play in bars any more, and I still buy good cases for any worthwhile guitar.

$200 < $10k
also, that guy's bands suck. he was lucky to have that guitar, and shouldve respected it more

I don't have any debt, because I went to a couple of shmoe colleges which gave me some financial aid and then allowed me to slowly creep my way to a degree while I was working at a grocery store. Which was cool, except my current job only partially relates to my schooling and I'm getting paid only a bit more than I was at the store. Sometimes I wonder if I'd be making more money now if I had taken out loans to have the real college experience at a reputable school, but I'm pretty sure I would have just drank myself stupid for four years and then been exactly where I am now, but with thousands and thousands in debt. I broke even, which is the American Dream for losers.

This describes pretty much everyone I know—though you can often replace "only partially" with "barely"—including myself, and including people who went to relatively expensive schools (including myself). Myself included.

Something you participated in quite a bit too.

Anyways, what the hell do you think the internet is for?

No, you must be confused.

I "squabbled" and I "bickered" and I "gnashed my teeth" in the political threads, but I didn't start threads bitching about the bad deals life handed me. SMF forums are wonderful sites. I just hopped over there and, as a registered member, you can go up the history of posts for any other member. Go and see for yourself that I was never bitching about the bummer of a day I had.

I was simply wasting time arguing while I had programs rendering at work.
