Found this slowed-down version of an early Rush classic. Works out pretty good, Rush could easily go in to the Doom business.

By the way, I'm a sucker for Rush and thoroughly enjoy Geddy Lee balless-like pipes.

I like the bad-assed screeching Geddy. I like all of his stuff but find the more singy, crooning stuff a bit tough to take. That's more of a shift in songwriting style that happened over the nineties than anything he is doing vocally though. The band is at their best when the vocals take a back seat.

I like Geddy Lee's voice and early Rush in general, actually. I have no problem with high pitched vocals as long as they're in key and done well.

I find his voice tough to take at times, but the music is so good that it's worth putting up with. It took me longer to get into them than it probably would have otherwise because of the voice, though.

I love Geddy's voice in "classic" Rush. He sounds like a douche in more recent material though. Writing has not only dropped off , he is also singing in a lower register. With so much less character or variation than the earlier stuff.

not nearly as much as John Anderson's does.

I don't think what Geddy does now is that far removed from what he did between 'Signals' and 'Power Windows', all stuff I'd rank among their best material. I just think most of it is a drop-off in songwriting, or moreover, a "shift" in songwriting from more of an experimental slant to something more conventional.

Wow. They could totally put out a doomed greatest hits album from the first four records and I'd probably buy it again- although I can just do it myself with pitch'n'time! I may...

I don't like his voice, but it isn't the deal breaker. I hate Rush because their songwriting is badly in need of a editor, their lyrics are pompous bullshit, and because for all the obvious talent their rhythm section has, they can't lay down a decent groove to save their lives.

"Working Man" always reminded me of Sabbath, almost a complete tribute, so it stands to reason that a slowed down version would be pretty doomy. Here in Canada, Rush have always got TONS of airplay, probably due to CanCon, so they've always really....I mean, they get played on classic rock radio once every hour or two, and it's kind of tough to really get fired up about it. I used to hate Rush, but am liking the band and Geddy's voice more probably each year, and his voice as he's aged has got a bit deeper and more well rounded. Some people's voices as they age I don't like, but Geddy's I actually like more as he ages. Plus, Geddy seems like a really down to earth guy.

Have to agree with you, ETLP, and:

In the words of a close friend, now departed from this world, "Geddy Lee sounds like a weasel."
