I like Entombed's Same Difference too. Their rock stuff was killer. Diabolus was better than everyone made it out to be.

Glad to hear I'm not the only one who dug that Lamp of the Universe stuff too. Actually makes me feel a lot better about it.

Pentagram's Show 'em How! Love that album. The music is fantastic and Bobby's voice, old as it sounds, really fits the music and gives it a creepy vibe. Last Days Here just seems to mean more when it's sung by someone who sounds like they're actually in their last days.

I love the first half of that Slayer album. The second side loses my interest a bit. Same as most later era Slayer I guess.

This is a site still dedicated to stoner rock, right?

Just listened to it today. I thought it was as good as Incubus or System Of A Down or Alien Ant Farm when that stuff was poppin' ten years back. Couldn't understand why the people I knew that liked all that LA goofball Faith No More inspired Nu Patton rock weren't into this band as well. Never met another fan of the group.

Stoner rock? I've been talking to you heads and people like you all for over a decade, so virtually any album I've enjoyed in the genre was brought to my attention by someone else.

Also, I too love the "Lucy" album.

any album by Shudder to Think. so beautifully weird and alien. the singer really turns people off, which i can definitely understand, but i love that shit. i thought they were one of the most creative rock bands ever. started out as label mates with Fugazi, merged into full on deconstructionist pop and then straightened out for as-close-to-mainstream album as they could possibly muster. and their soundtrack to High Art was classic, and sounded nothing like Shudder to Think at all. more like brian eno's atmospheric stuff maybe.

I dig me some Shudder to Think, but think it's been established I like milquetoast/mainstream/off beat/mundane stuff.

I am so stoner rock, no?

Funeral At The Movies/Ten Spot still gets put on repeat for a few days each year.

Shudder To Think was around before Fugazi(1986, Fugazi didn't start up until 1987)and their first record came out on Sammich Records, not Dischord.

U2 - Zooropa

This is the only U2 I dig. And it's prob the least favorite of U2 fanboys, and Bono is a knob, and it's kind of a weird album. It was actually initially intended to be an EP. But there's something spacey and different about this one. Much less pompous than usual U2. At least thats what I hear when listening to the music. I know, I saw the Zoo TV tour, and the anti Bush, over the top MTV/US media angle. But the music from this album is sort of off kilter rock, less mainstream then their typical shit. I have few friends that agree with me on this one, and I don't expect a different response here.

The Cult - Beyond Good and Evil

Came out in 2001. BADASS. Their heaviest record. Killer songs and great distorted guitar tone from Billy Duffy, yet it gets no love. Surprised I haven't heard more chirping about it here.

I don't know anyone else who likes Fantomas. Don't think I've seen any discussion on them here. Not that I've looked that hard.

It's their second best album after Electric, IMO. Love those songs and something about the production works. Killer riffs, Ian seems on his game. It's just really fucking good.

A specific one from me: Dobie Gray "Drift Away" the entire album is almost as good as the title track, real nice vibe. Laid back and again, good songs.

I like Beyond Good and Evil, too, but better than anything other than Electric?

I don't think so.

Never the less, a very good album with "Breathe" and "Speed of Light" being the best tracks on the thing, imo. Sone real clunker tracks put it down further in the queue of Cult albums for me. Like I said, though, I dig it.
