Pretty underrated drummer I say.

Watch this short clip of him jamming with Terry Bozzio. Worth watching just to see Terry Bozzio not playing a kit with 732 drums.

When did Dale Bozzio turn into her ex-husband?

Ack! Terry Bozzio. Terry.

When it comes to Bozzios, Dale is always on my mind.

Howard's interview with Billy Corgan this week was really good. He said he knew he Chamberlin was a junkie coming into Smashing Pumpkings, but he was just too good of a drummer, who he knew he could never replace, so he just dealt with it.

corgan = uberdouche
chamberlin = junkie

the other two = visual support

still the first 2 Pumpkins albums were pretty solid. everything else= meh or worse

I remember seeing the SP on their first tour and being pretty blown away by how good Jimmy Chamberlain was. His performance on record is good, but he was super impressive watching him play live.

Saw Smashing Pumpkins live twice (circa 1991-1993) and they were staggeringly awful both times. Never heard them going into the first show, and that's made it pretty tough to appreciate them ever since. Plus, the fact that Corgan's a douchenozzle doesn't help.

I saw SP before I'd ever heard of them, opening for Primus and TAD, at a defunct club here in town. I liked them then, but yeah, Chamberlin was pretty much the star of the show. And got to witness early on the doucheknozzlery of Billy Corgan first hand. At least he was a douche before anyone knew who he was.

My dislike for Smashing Pumpkins got in my way of noticing Chamberlin's chops.

GISH is a helluva record. yeah, billy is a fucking retard, but the guitar work on there is insane, as is chamberlain's drumming. easily one of my favorite drum albums, as well as guitar albums. i can forget how much i utterly fucking hate corgan when i hear him play on that one.

Corgan told Howard last week that he wrote Gish mostly on LSD and wrote everything else completely sober. That is a true deliniator within the SP catalog and it is easy to hear.

Corgan should have stayed on acid.
