I'm loving the shit out of this album. A bit of a departure in the heaviness and production departments, but the hooks and melodies make up for both of those in spades.

I dunno. It hasn't done much for me at all. Seems sort of tame, distilled.

After hearing some of the previews, I was prepared to be let down. Specifically in the heaviness department. It takes a lot for me to forgive a lack of heavy. Then it just clicked. But I can understand the tame and distilled view mainly because it's both in comparison to their past albums.

"Son Of The Last Breath" is fucking epic.

The title track and "Storm King" are kinda blah, "Storm King" gets repetitive fast, but I like the rest of it a lot.

But "Son of The Last Breath" is easily one of the best things they've ever done. Creates such a mood. I think it might've been a better title track/opener. Or maybe a title track/closer, I say you name the record after the best or most memorable song, and I doubt anyone's going to forget "Son Of The Last Breath", it's such a departure in style but not at all in tone or subject matter.

After the last one which only failed in sequencing (Hammer of the North should've been the opener, not "I, The Jury") it's a bit of a let down, but it's still a good record. Just not as great as the last one.

I endorse this message.
