I just just got home after witnessing a religous experience. Sleep just played over here in Oakland CA and it was fucking trancendental. The whole building would vibrate, your skull buzzed and you torso/lungs would vibrate with the low end. Mindblowing. Life is extremely good.

Yeah, having witnessed them live two nights in a row in Seattle I can say I was blown the fuck away...

Matt Pike is definitely under the weather, but once he hit the stage he killed it..they all did..Al's tone went from harnessed thunder to seismic soul-shaking - like Audi0phile said it was physically and spiritually affecting... and over two nights they played pretty much EVERYTHING...it was amazing.

And blasphemous as it may be to a few people, I have to say Jason hits just as hard and pours just as much feeling into playing those songs as Chris ever did, and maybe better.

I knew it was going to be cool to see Sleep play - but I wasn't expecting anything close to the level they took it to.

^^ Totally. I was there and Sleep was amazing both nights. I agree about Jason, I think his drumming is just right for the band. And dude, you guys were awesome too! Highlight for me was Monday night, stage lit up with blue light, clouds of smoke blown from the audience to the stage, and Sleep pounding out Dopesmoker. Awesome.

Was it just me, or was the PA system maxed out on Sunday night during Sleep's set? Seemed really buzzy.

So Sleep played two new songs Sunday night: "And Sagan" and "Magnatar". Anyone heard these yet? Both instrumental, IIRC.

Hey man, thanks.

I liked when the dude flippantly asked Al to share and Al singled him out and made him come up and proceeded to pass the joint to him and a few others...nice touch.

Not sure about the PA buzz Sunday, but I do not that it sounded best on Monday night...sounded perfect, really.

Saw them in Leeds a couple of weeks ago - great show. Matt started the gig riffing away while going up and down in the hall's wheelchair lift

It's kinda funny how between Sleep and HOF Pike has kind or sort of positioned himself as our generation's Lemmy AND Iommi, in a very loose sense of course.

^ Interesting comparison...he's definitely one of the first musicians I think of after Lemmy when I think of individual musicians who are metal as fuck.

I had the same kind of mind blowing experience that many of you are describing after seeing Sleep in Austin a couple of years ago. Was beyond amazing. I'm glad Matt and Al deciding to keep it going, after those initial 2010 outings, they made it seem that it was kind of a short term deal. The world of rock needs Sleep.
