So I guess Google decided to crash the shit out of Flash with their Moog "doodle" on their frontpage for everyone using browsers other than Chrome. Kinda pricksih, but all well and good and certainly within their rights.

Only thing is I'm using Firefox and now can't get Flash to work at all, which means no YouTube, etc. I downloaded Chrome -- all right, future, you win -- but it sucks with the Wordpress back-end (can't resize pictures the same way I can with Firefox, and yes, that is a make-or-break thing) and is sized all stupidly.

Am I the only one having trouble with Flash in Firefox?

Is Opera the solution to my problem?

Also, if you're thinking parody thread, I might suggest "Bowser woes":

Flash has been very shaky for me in firefox (on a mac) for the last 4 updates or so(maybe 3 months?).
the most recent update, which was about 3 days ago has been the most stable in recent memory.

I know that really isn't helpful, but i'm an imbecile.

Well I can echo this...running FF on a mac platform, without the most recent updates...after messing with googlefooger I ended up getting update prompts but other than that all is fine (youtube, etc.)

Opera has many, many benefits. The only downside to Opera is that some sites don't support it and they may not work properly with it. But you should always have at least 2-3 browsers on your system anyway.

I use Opera as main, and Chrome as backup.

The biggest thing that I notice when I'm not using Opera is mouse gestures. Now that I'm used to them it really sucks not having that functionality in other places. It's like getting an SSD drive, or dual monitors. It's frustrating having to downgrade.

If you're keen on Firefox and updates, cookies/cache clearing, and a computer restart don't help, I suggest making a backup of bookmarks, deleting Firefox, and reinstalling it fresh from their website.

You can install plugins in Chrome and Firefox to have mouse gestures as well. I used Opera a couple of years ago before there was Firefox, and I got used to the mouse gestures as well. I didn't want to switch to another browser without it having mouse gestures. Since Firefox has a good plugin for mouse gestures, I'm using FF at the moment, with Chrome as a backup (also with a mouse gestures plugin installed).

For FireFox it is called FireGestures, and for Chrome it is called Smooth Gestures.

Mouse gesture addons suck balls and aren't as well done as Opera. I also don't want to have to wait 6 months for a feature to be implemented on FF or Chrome that they saw used on Opera.

I have been using opera for many years, around 2005 or so, after they took ads out of it, I have never looked back, brilliant: )
