Its leaked....on my first listen.. Wasn't sure what direction they were headed in but they got a little bit of everything from heavy to mellow, a very proper follow up to Of Sound Mind (in terms of full lengths). Seems like its their best work to date.

Same here. Got my download a few days ago. The ep from last year left me a bit cold and I like the new album a lot more. Certainly a wider scope but I am not sure if it tops Of Sound Mind (which is one of my favorite albums of the last few years).

Does anyone know when the actual release date for the new album is?

Also got the Kickstarter download. I've been spinning it since yesterday, fantastic record.

They're doing an in-store at Vacation Vinyl today, hoping to pick up a hard copy.

Yeah. The track "On the Wind" is super Floydian. Which is never bad, imo.

X2.

Really digging this one so far and do think it should surpass Of Sound Mind for me.

Thought this band was onto something with Neptune With Fire, but Of Sound Mind was a snooze fest...try as I have, I can't get into that album at all...might give the new one a try though.

I already like it more than Invisible White.
I'm not sure how it will stack up against the first two in the long run, though. It seems to have less of the "Buzzo sitting in with Pink Floyd" vibe that originally drew me to them. It's still EXTREMELY Floyd-y, but with a little less of the heavier stuff.
Another listen or two is definitely needed for a more flushed out opinion.

^ So you worked yourself into a masturbatory froth over The Hunter and now Of Sound Mind?...you're like a cum dumpster for underwhelming music.

Mr. Neutron, I find this album heavier than "Of Sound Mind", only without the growling vocals which is a plus because I always found them a bit out of place for that kind of music. The riffs are still huge and heavy, and what about that fast, almost "thrashy" second part of the song "Whispers"? There is more of the harsh Maranga's singing which is great.

heavythisaxe, really man, comparing Of Sound Mind with The Hunter and calling it underwhelming? The Hunter is a medicore mainstream metal album, while Of Sound Mind is the pinnacle of creativity and modern progressive music.

btw. Are they without a drummer momentarily?

dont get that at all. got hip on the first one. i'm thinkin because it did lots of things i couldn't expect. started off sounding like another kyuss rip cloner rock band. kept mutating until that atom heart mother ending. sounded fresh with surprises. of sound mind is too long for me, too lacking of direction, too boring to keep my interest throughout even one song. sold it and kept hte first one. its cool you're still diggin on it. just don't think your reaction is the universal. lots of berks out there ain't gonna agree. two of them in here testifying right now.

"Tales from Topographic Oceans" by Yes had a reputation of the worst prog rock album ever at the time. I think it's one of their best efforts. I understand people who don't like long, complex songs...they're not for recreational listening...it's something you put one once a month because it demands a lot of concentration from a listener. Very often albums like this are considered boring by many. But comparing it with pop metal and calling it underwhelming is...well just stupid...

lots of berks would think that to call it the pinnacle of modern creatvity and progressive music is equally stupid. opinions, assholes, check?

Doomborn, simmer down...Of Sound Mind was an underwhelming album, IMO...notice that I didn't state that as a fact but as my personal opinion...no need to get your panties in a wad...the last time I checked opinions are still permitted...Neptune remains a favorite of mine - a nearly flawless and thoroughly interesting amalgamation of numerous styles...the first time I heard Of Sound Mind, I thought I wasn't listening to the same band...gone was the originality, heft and groove...replaced by a bit too much Pink Floyd worship and aimlessly long songs, IMO...see, there's that pesky opinion again...such bands are a dime a dozen these days...that said, I'll give the new one a spin, but I have no expectations.
