one o' those bands that doesn't get nearly the love that they should since everyone got all "doomy"
Ive gotten over lots of bands from that era, but not these guys.

If im not wrong...
'book of songs' was a sr,com album of the year

i will wait patiently for the MJS "roadtrip" story

Yes, I believe Single Book of Songs did win album of the year, edging out QotSA's Rated R even.
I appreciate them

So what's the status on them? Did they call it quits?

that band was the complete package for me...everything I want to hear beautifully rolled into one gooey ball of awesomeness.

Loved the progression from the self-titled to Noara Dance
Then, on ASBoS they just shot into orbit, never to return.

huge fanboy, here
I even sent away for all that ASBoS live stuff and the new recordings

i think I hear a little MV in those last two Hynos69 albums
prob why I dig those so much, too

They did a self-released ep a couple of years ago, more of a demo. Then they called it quits and some of them formed Electric Caveman. Had an album on their website for free download but the site is down.
Mammoth Volume played a re-uinon-gig in the summer but that was a one-off it seems.

Live, I would say I learned two things I did not get from the records - the guitarist, and all of them really, are accomplished musicians and those prog-riffs come shooting out of them effortlessly.

The singer/drummer both sang and that added a lot on the vocal side of things.

The 3 of us got to see that third show where they did their set and then the rest of the night goofed off and switched up instruments and so on - Neato and one of my favorite musical things ever! Somewhere I have the live videos they made of their tour. Don't even remember what's on it.

"Single Book Of Songs" is front to back one of the best albums in the genre...although they did such a great job of incorporating the interweaving guitar, keys and the old 70s prog influences, odd time changes, the perfect flow and pacing, it's hard to even put it in the same category as a lot of stoner rock. That was the best one by far-the others have their charms and some great songs for sure, but "SBOS" is the real deal. I don't feel anybody has equalled it in that style and sound over the last eight years or so.

I've still got my t-shirt...

Really good band. I tucked all there material away because a fear of MV burnout! But forgot to revisit.
It's now time for the revisit.
I like these little heads up!
Cheers

I love everything they put out, and listen to them on a pretty regular basis. I didn't really get into that Electric Caveman stuff so much, but all the Mammoth Volume stuff is top notch.

They're called 'The Cavemen' now I think. Site is going to be coming back up soon from what they've said. The MV singer has a band going called Sagrada Silver, they have a couple videos on youtube.

The Cavemen demo they had up is actually pretty solid, so I can't wait to hear the finished product.

Just started listening to A Single Book of Songs this week. Nice stoner/prog hybrid.

Here is a link to the Electric Cavemen-demo. Since they put it up for free on their website I guess the band won't mind.
