and don't necessarily think the current mainstreaming of what's been my favourite horror genre since I was a kid is a bad thing (au contraire in fact), but perhaps it's gone a bit too far..

High time someone took such a bold political stance! Kudos sir. These zombies and vampires have been thriving on the nanny state for too long!

No more welfare for imaginary monsters!

I knew a girl who was teaching a class at UMass about "African-American pop culture" where the students were required to play Grand Theft Auto San Andreas and listen to Tupac.

There are some of you who would immediately say "that's awesome!" and others who will say "what a fucking waste of time and money". I suppose I would be in the latter category, if it wasn't for the fact that I'd be playing video games anyways and it could still be considered a personal "waste of time and money". Judge not, lest I be judged.

The excuse would then be that if people can afford to take classes on video games and rap and zombies, they are entitled to. And since I already generally consider college sometimes to be kind of a crock, I suppose it doesn't really affect me or my views. There's been joke classes in college for years anyways, right?

My wife runs marathons. There is some sort of zombie race coming up. Apparently you can either sign up as a "runner" or a "zombie."
I think the zombies will chase the runners. The zombies have already sold out she told me.

You ought to give this a read

Its acutally pretty thorough, surprisingly almost scary thorogh. I dont know what about it is more entertaining/ funny the fact that its a reference material pretaining to a "Zombie Apocalypse" or how detailed the book is.

PS Its by Max Brooks (Mel Brooks' brother)

If universities can have courses on Radiohead and Objectivisim I don't see why they can't have courses on something that has the potential to be useful.

Usually hipster trends evaporate pretty quickly but this silly zombie thing has, um, legs?

At least bacon is tasty

sounds like an interesting and potentially relevant class (large scale catatrophe as opposed to zombie apocolypse) I guess theyre putting the zombie spin on it to make it more fun?

this has scared me though as only just this morning I said to John, what if the government is pushing film makers to make more and more zombie films as secret untold training for whats to come, im pretty worried, and when you think of it scientifically, of course theres a chance it could happen!

truth be told, had my uni offered those classes I would have taken them too. still miles better than a class on Radiohead.

Is bacon a hipster trend, or are you just noting its general tastiness?
