I'm loving it. He's finally getting behind the riff and letting it carry the momentum... and bounce... and pulverize the listener's head.

So I held off listening to the streaming but I got the CD today.
It's High. On. Fire.
Mother. Fucker. Yeah, Madness of an Architect is killer.
I realized a while ago that I listen to all my HoF Albums more than anything else I have.
Am I the only person that dug Snakes ?
Whichever HoF album I like the least would still be a thousand times better than 99.9% of other modern metal albums.
I have only heard it once so far but will be listening to it more tomorrow.
Driving with it this evening I had it cranked up pretty loud and it gave me chills! Fuck. Yes.

(Hungus, welcome back, your analysis is, as usual, spot on)

The only problem I had with Snakes was the production.

I like Snakes a lot more than DitC. But yeah, first three albums for me forever.

I haven't heard any of this outside of the first song that was released. I'll be picking it up this weekend regardless. I've mentioned it before but at this point, I'm completely all-in for High on Fire. Them and probably YOB are the only bands that go back that far (year 2000) that I'm that loyal to.

I really dig the newer weirder stuff thrown in the mix. King of Days, Madness of an Architect, Warhorn and Samsara make me take notice. Spiritual Rites sounds like a mix of songs off the last few albums, not a bad song just have heard it from them before.

I am starting to warm up to the production. Madness of an Architect and King of Days are just as good if not better than anything these guys have ever done.

Serums of Liao is basically a HOF pop-song. It takes me like 20 listens before an HOF album really sinks in usually but they never get old.

It's a perfect combination of everything they've done in the past. Brilliant.

Given this about 5 listens now and I'm liking it much more than I did Snakes. All three guys really shine. I love the bass solo in King of Days and the drums in Madness.. and Pike rules all the way through. Much better production than the last one, polished but still gritty sounding.

I haven't been as enamored with Ballou's production jobs in the past as a lot of people, but the sounds on this are pretty fucking fantastic. Best production in a long time for them, a band that seemingly gets a lot of studio production clunkers thrown their way.

totally fucking geeking out on this record.

personally, i think that Communion is their masterpiece (the only album of theirs that's damn near perfect from front to back, each other album is great, but not perfect) but this one is giving it a run for it's money.

I'm mostly diggin' it, but I'm not sure about the production. I'll hold out my final judgement on that until the vinyl arrives. "Madness of an Architect" is a ridiculously awesome song.

My wife, who loves Snakes for the Divine, can't really get interested in this album at all. She does, however, do a fantastic impersonation of Matt Pike's vocals on "Warhorn".

The album fucking crushes. And I've only heard the whole thing twice. Looking forward to putting it in the car.

Honestly, after listening to the stream a few times I was ready to move on to other things. Just wasn't doing much for me overall. But I decided to give it another shot, found a leak to download and burned a copy for my car. Again...not sure if the interest will remain (I have enjoyed every HoF album upon release....its the aging of the albums that remain the issue) but I got my order in and for now listening to the the album in my car makes me feel all warm inside.

I picked up my copy earlier today, and it's really fucking good. Ballou did a great job on this album.

the 3 minute mark of Fertile Green is everything i love about HOF. i'm ready for them to lay off the gas just a little bit and settle into more of these punishing slow jams. godDAMN those 90 seconds are absolutely fucking killing me

Anyone who doesn't see the sheer fucking brutal savage onslaught of this album is fucking deaf. Or retarded. Or a deaf retard.

How can anyone have a beef with the production? This is the best they've sounded since Blessed Black Wings.

towards the end of King of Days, that sounds like Pike and Matz trading off on solos. Matz is this generations cliff burton if he keeps this up
