The Sixers play team ball. Everyone has been sold on Doug Collin's philosophy which team defense and unselfishness on the offensive end. The Sixers are a fun to watch, however, I think their lack of a dominant big man/consistent 20+ point scorer will be their downfall come playoff time. As much as I want to see them advance as far as possible, I see the Sixers getting knocked out in the second round. Hopefully I'm wrong.

So...how's that CP3 trade working out for New Orleans?

Doug Collins seems to pull the best out of his teams, like Popovich or George Karl or Doc Rivers. Teams like the Sixers and Jazz show you can out-hustle and out-bang your way to some wins and survive injuries and player losses. But it still takes a lot of sheer talent to advance in the playoffs too, so we'll see.

This has to be the dunk of the year so far.

So Lin brought MSG and TWC back together, and ESPN thanked him with this.

Thanks for posting this. I haven't been able to see a picture of it until now.

Joe Johnson was removed from the All-Star game because of his injury but was replaced with Rajon Rondo. I personally don't think he deserved to make it. He's probably missed about a 1/3 of the season and he's had a decent season so far but I think Brandon Jennings should have made it over him. Typically NBA, all it is is a popularity contest.

Well that was a thrilling dunk contest.

I thought George should have won it. Evans' two-hander was the only impressive dunk he had, George had the better "jump over someone" dunk (I think I could jump over Kevin Hart, but points for clearing him I guess), and he won the creativity award with the Tron one. If he hit the last one on the first try I think he would have been the clear winner. Watching them take more than one attempt killed a lot of enthusiasm, and after the second attempt the enthusiasm was just gone.

Budinger, who I thought was by far the most boring of the bunch, was 1% behind Evans in the voting. NBA fans are stupid.

I missed the dunk contest but caught the end of the D League game, and the MVP award to Gerald Green, former Celtic and one time winner of yes, the All Star dunk contest. Slippery slope in professional sports, but you can be a big fish in a small pond if you want to. And they will love you for it. You just won't make the big bucks.

Did I just read correctly that Rasheed Wallace is signing with the Lakers?

They must be desperate? Crazy.

Maybe prepping for the results of a trade involving Bynum or Gasol or they might waive Metta or Walton via amnesty. I don't get the sense the team is desperate, just that Jim Buss is under the microscope and even his sister Jeannie is hanging back, waiting to see what he can do with this lost season. But the Lakers would take half the playoff teams in contention with this line-up, they just won't take a title with a lesser version of last year's team.

it was more like dunk practice, hey let's practice our dunks in front of the crowd. I don't think I've ever missed a dunk in front of a crowd, they're always my biggest ones. when I put my mind to something you better watch out.

I think I know how to fix the dunk contest and get players people actually want to watch participate to actually participate. Get rid of the dunk contest altogether and integrate it into the All-Star game itself. A lot of the dunks during the game were more interesting than pretty much every single dunk in the contest, and dunks in a game situation (even ones in as relaxed of a game as this year's Rising Stars and All-Star games were) are more exciting to me.

The game itself wasn't much better than anything else this weekend. It was Rising Stars levels of boring at times when no one was even attempting to play defense. Oh well, at least it's over with so we can get back to having fun watching basketball.

Anyone catch Magic's telling the story about Obama crossing over Chris Paul and making the winning shot at the Prez's last birthday party? That was an all-time Presidential sports story right there. Almost as classic as:

Uh oh. That sounds like a concussion symptom, but we won't jump to any conclusions until Wade goes through some further testing (which is inevitable). Miami's next game is Tuesday vs. the Nets.

Yeah, who didn't see that coming when you concussed their best player only a few days prior on national tv.

Who do you think had the better game yesterday - Rondo :18 pts, 17 rebounds, 20 assists or Deron Williams: 57 pts, 16-29 FG, 21-21 FT, 6 rebounds, 7 assists?

Despite the 21-21 from the line I think I have to go with Rondo. That was an Oscar Robertson type game.

Rondo, although the Knicks should have closed that game out before OT. Sad state for the Celtics to be in when they almost lose it in regulation and only win it by 4 in OT after a really impressive performance by the PG they're rumored to want to get rid of (though that may change now). They should be working on building a new, young team around Rondo; not trying to get rid of him. Idiots.

The Nets only managed to beat the worst team in the league by 3 points despite an awesome scoring performance by Williams. That somehow feels like a loss to me.
