Does anyone know what the system for rookie contracts are?

All I think I saw was that first round picks have a 5th year team option that if exercised will pay the player like a Top 10 player at his position and that the contracts are now reduced. But what's the actual specifics? Given the quickness of many draft picks signings it seems like there is some specificity in what players can sign for, kinda like the NBA, but I don't know this and am curious?

Hmmm, Ochocinco to the Pats...I'll withhold my thoughts until my general dislike for him no longer clouds my judgment...it might take a VERY LONG while...

If he shuts the fuck up and keeps running good routes (which is his strong suit), he should be okay. I never thought he did enough to warrant the attention..other than self proclaimed greatness

Gotta admit, I get a kick out of 85. His tweets make me laugh on occasion; seems like he's just having fun. Granted his shtick ain't gonna go over very well in curmudgeonly New England, but football-wise he might be a good match.

I unfortunately like both Pats moved. Seems like Chad lost a step but is still a good route runner so give him some focus and she should stay a good and productive WR, albeit not the very good one he was in his prime.

Panthers acquire Greg Olsen from Chicago. If Olsen lives up to the hype he's generated in his career this should be a nice nab for Carolina and Cam Newton, who also should benefit from Steve Smith being pulled off the trade block.

Bears supposedly now in pursuit of Roy Williams and setting up a Williams-Martz reunion.

FUCK X 2 re: the Bears...Olsen was a fan favorite and is a helluva player...Roy Williams is the definition of an epic fail...Lovie's cluelessness re: offense is on full display for all to see...

but what the fuck is with all the hype for Kolb?? He has looked like absolute shite the few games I saw him play in and has little starting experience overall.

The big deal about Kolb is he was the projected starter for the Eagles as we know, and he's easily an upgrade at QB for the Cardinals than anything they've got right now. Yet, how many times have we seen the Cardinals reach for a guy they think will be good for them and they suck? It goes back as far as Gary Hogeboom and includes flops like Timm Rosenbach.

I don't get it either...Kolb must fit the profile...Godshifter, let's not forget Leinart, too...saw where Houston pulled the plug on him earlier today...I wonder if he'll now throw in the towel and pursue a full-time career as a Hollywood party boy...

Eagles agreed to terms with QB Vince Young on a one-year contract.
It didn't take V.Y. long to realize there was no market for him as a starting QB after failing to bring an NFL commitment-level to the table in Tennessee. A one-year stint as Michael Vick's backup is a smart move, allowing him to stay under the radar and enter the market again next year at age 29. While Young may struggle to pick up the West Coast offense in camp, he won't be asked to take the reigns anytime soon. Regardless, he's now the best insurance policy in the league, capable of keeping the team in contention even if the starter goes down.

Vince Young always bothered me. He actually had one productive season where it looked like he would take it to the next level. From what I've seen & heard, Fisher is a hell of a players coach and showed alot of patience in a qb that I'm sure he had less excitement than the ownership in. He handled that kid with baby gloves..and in the end, it cost him his job.

Young seems to come from the 'entitlement' camp, where he sulks and whines when criticized, and his mental state was put out there when he disappeared after being benched (making sure to make it aware that he was taking a ride with his gun in hand). That my friends is the adult version a spoiled kid who stomped his feet and got what he wanted. C'mon..any player that can't play for Fisher? Fisher was the antithesis of a Parcells/Coughlin type and always had a level head when it came to player/coach discussions (from what Ive gathered)

Vince Young seemed to finally show a skill set that I personally never trusted in these option type of 'athletic quarterbacks' coming out of college, but his mental state took any advances he had made towards becoming a legit qb.

Vince Young has and always will be shit. With the exception of Steve Young, Vick and Randall Cunningham no running quarterback has ever evolved into a quality quarterback. They may succeed in college but that style of play doesn't work in the NFL.

True, Leinart has been a tremendous disappointment. He's a guy the Cardinals actually drafted as opposed to signing in free agency and he was a bust. Outside of Warner, the Cards have been cursed at the QB position for years and years.

I agree with everything said about Vince Young.

But I am willing to give him a chance in Philly. I will hope that his quick signing in Philly as an obvious backup is him acknowledging he needs to fix his image to bump his value up and his willingness to do so for a season.

was more of a rhetorical question..I know the answer. They have zero luck outside of Warner.. and if I was Fitzy, I'd want out of that shit hole. I just don't understand Kolb, starting last year, being so highly touted..hell, even the fantasy rankings were real high, like he was going to step right in and Philly was going to be tough to beat in that division with Kolb in there. I watched one game, and he was terrible.

This year..more of the same.. 'most anticipated free agent'

Maybe he proves himself..but until then, I just dont understand why for the better part of 2 years this guy is end all for a few of these teams

Kolb put up some nice numbers in his spot duty 2 seasons ago. I think that was the cause for his hype.

Vince Young's emotional immaturity compromises his physical strengths to the point of liability.
Leinart's spirit is broken, he's a fucking sadsack "woe is me" mopey-face; getting the ballsack back at this point will be really tough

Darren Sproles to the Saints, man he's gonna electrify the Superdome, I won't be surprised if he shines brightly this year

That's a crowded backfield with Pierre Thomas, Chris Ivory, Mark Ingram and now Sproles.

I remember a game when Sproles returned two kicks last year, or year before? and the guy looked like he was moving twice as fast as anyone on the field.

Eagles sign Cullen Jenkins to a 5 year, $25 million deal that could also end up being just 1 year, $5 million. Another nice move, imo, and a softer market for Jenkins than I was lead to believe it would be.

What's the deal with Aubrayo Franklin? He was SF's franchise player last season and now as a free agent his market seems to also be rather soft.

Burress to the Jets...interesting. A bit of a downgrade from Edwards I would think.
