Just read through all seven pages (props to whoever mentioned death breath). I've been on a bit of a doom/stoner binge lately but you guys have me digging through my old playlists. My DM tastes are varied but I find myself attracted to the midpace chuggers (see Where the Slime Lives).
What can I bring to the table? Well I've seen Necros Christos and Behemoth thrown around, same with Teitanblood and Incantation. How about some Skeletonwitch (always in my truck!):
These guys just bring the mosh. KILLER live show, so much fun, I can't listen to them too much or else I start speeding (or want to punch someone).
Another band I always have within reach, The Black Dahlia Murder:
Take em as you will, if you dig around the discography you'll find some true gems. Guys are super fun live, and take it from someone who knows...they will drink your jaeger.
I can't believe no one has mentioned Amon Amarth!
Unstoppable. I know it's not your guttural tape cassette garage death metal band, but you can't tell me you don't want to jump up and just battleaxe the crap outta everything around you.
A little out of left field is Gojira, per the drummer discussion Flo Mournier is the drummer of this band
Marchingfuckingelephants
As a Cannibal corpse fan (evisceration plauge sets me off big time) I gotta show love for cannabiscorpse (trying to avoid filters at work so youtube yourself). Good stuff.
Last but not least, no necrophagist?!?
shreddermcshredhead Muhammed
Ok, that's all I can pull off the top of my head. Ipod is dead and I'm stuck at work (don't head band while working with a microscope...that doesn't end well).
Interesting...Obituary is heading out w/ Broken Hope, whose vocalist killed himself a few years back...apparently, the dude from Gorgasm is the new vocalist.

I was very impressed with Grave Miasma, who played here last weekend. They are from England and apparently have some ties to Cruciamentum. I bought the latest GM CD but haven't had a chance to spin it yet.
AUTOPSY played here tonight and killed everything.

New stuff out from Corpsessed and Antediluvian.
Now Aspirin, Antediluvian is great and all, and imma let you finish, but the Adversarial songs off of the recent split LP they did is some of the best death metal in recent time!

Oh, I dug those too...just haven't listened to them enough yet. I'll get on it.

yeah they seem to kind of have a lamb of god type of vibe going on so i can why that would drive people away. then new album is like a motorhead/immortal type of sound to me. sammy duets riffs are ferocious

Anyone got any good (recent) suggestions for some triggered-to-hell modern production pro-tools bullshit? I mean that sincerely. NOT looking for the atmospheric HP Lovecraft stuff by the bands that insist it's a stylistic choice and it's not that they can't play as well as Origin/Nile etc. Some of that stuff is great, just not what I'm looking for. I want something sharp and precise that will make my fillings rattle. But with killer riffs and actual songs please (ie: Braindrill sucks).
Thanks in advance,

I recently saw both of these bands, and they were excellent old-school DEATH. A buddy complained about GM's use of reverb on their albums, but live they cut right through you.

Oops, I guess I read your query wrong. You're actually looking for triggered, type-writer drumming type of stuff but with good riffs? Can't help you then mang.

Yeah, this was the sort of science fair ridiculousness I was looking for. Shred, blast, barf, clickaclickaclickaclicka, hooks galore. Rad:
Most of you will prolly hate this but it's way more fun to speed to than all that Incantation worship. Reminds me of where Arsis tried to go before they turned into W.A.S.P. or whatever. The lady on drums has to be the most-relevant least-gimmicky female in extreme metal.

Well, this is it for me in 2012 unless one of you fuckers can come up with something better. Yeah, it's got clean production, and yeah, the drums are pretty mechanical. But whatever. Basically sounds like a more death-metally Arsis. Which is a great thing.

Memorable death metal albums have been few and far between this year, IMO...that said, I am looking forward to the new Incantation album to close out the year.
From what I've heard, Pseudogod's album was my favorite death metal release this year. And this live video fucking rules. At 1:22 or so, the shit gets REAL.
Don't forget about Martire's 2012 release...Brutal Legions of the Apocalypse if you're on the Portal kick. Features a few members (past or present, not sure)..old school raw death/thrash

Thanks for the heads up on that ^. Shits good. Just listened to the newish Teitanblood EP, Woven Black Arteries. Only 2 songs and one is Purging Tongues which was released earlier this year but an awesome half hour anyways
another heads up, for those that don't know em..pre-Warhorse..yes THAT Warhorse.. (Todd L, Jerry O) just got reissued/remastered w/unreleased tracks..nice to see Pathos Productions gave a shit about something truly slay-worthy to re-issue these from originally cassette demos from 94-95. I had a cdr rip of most of these but low quality.
