I've always thought Murray looks like David Cassidy.

What's unsettling is that Pike looks worse, healthwise, than Murray in some of these photos. And not a hell of a lot better than Erickson, which is really saying something.

Worse health wise? Hell, they must have 20 years between them in age! Well, it could be worse...

Drugs/alcohol aside, don't these two have... er, disparate lifestyles? High On Fire certainly tours a lot, and not quite with the loftiness I'd assume Iron Maiden has made for themselves. Road wear should certainly factor in.

Pike's definitely got some city miles on him.

I remember once I saw HOF at the Bowery ballroom in NYC and afterwards I went to grab a beer at the Motorcity bar. Not long after the whole High On Fire crew came rolling in. I saw Matt when I went to the bar and I offered to buy him a beer for the great show. His roadie/road manager comes up behind me, puts his hand on my shoulder and asks "Where do we get some blow? Like, right now!"

I told them I didn't have any and I didn't know where to get any, but that I did have a pocket full of Vicodin and they could have some of the them*. And Matt goes "Nope. We're going in the other direction."

ha, mastodon's the same way but they beat around the bush out of respect for I guess our center of the world establishment, I'm bored, you're bored, the bands are boring, everyone is bored. too bored to figure out the urinal cleaner was too scared to send people to me for more than just green. sometimes there'd be some adventures. remember once I had to let players club down, was in and out of the front door calling all of my numbers, each time their smiles got smaller until finally reality set in, and I was ashamed, it happens. yeah, great thread. I've been meaning to catch up on this site, so I went extra deep in the pages, all the way back to where it left off last time. not to press the issue.

On a related anecdote - went to see Earthless in my fair town, they came on and shambled about, then played one note for the first 15 minutes or so.

Then explained that someone had given them some ketamine before the gig.
